Tara Cunningham
Tara currently lives in Toronto Ontario. She is a high school physics and math teacher who has been working as the outreach coordinator for CANDAC since September 2007. She spends her free time playing sports and knitting socks for her friends. She is looking forward to meeting all of the winners of the Northern Experience Program and can’t wait for her first trip to Eureka!
Pierre Fogal
Pierre has been the PEARL site manager since CANDAC began operations in Eureka in August 2005. He manages the group of operators that look after the instruments, and is usually on site for infrastructure additions and upgrades, and new instrument installations. His science interests are centered around measurements of atmospheric composition particularly in the mid infrared. He has worked at measuring the atmosphere from the surface to the upper stratosphere, using spectrometers installed on the ground, in aircraft, and on balloons, from locations ranging from the South Pole to Eureka. Hobbies include photography, woodworking, and amateur radio.
Ashley Harrett
Ashley Harrett, BSc in Earth Science & Chemistry, is the Logisitics Manager for the PEARL operations. She has been going to Eureka since May 2006, and has been there for the ACE Polar Sunrise campaign once and the arrival of the Canadian Coast Guard ice breakers for sealift twice. Spare time is spent camping, hiking and taking way too many scenery photos.
Matt Okraszewski
Matt has spent roughly half of the past seven years working in either of the two polar areas. He spent 30 months in the Antarctic in the Science Support division of the US Antarctic Program. He has been employed by CANDAC as an Arctic Research Officer since 2007. As such he operates, installs, maintains and fixes the instruments and facilities at PEARL. When not in Eureka, he resides in Toronto and enjoys soccer, disk golf and playing his guitar, mandolin and bouzouki. He's looking forward to meeting the students and teachers who share an interest in the Arctic.
Kaley Walker
Kaley is a Physics professor at the University of Toronto. She studies the atmosphere over the Arctic using measurements from Eureka and from orbiting satellites. When she has spare time, Kaley makes hand-bound books and likes going out for sushi. She is looking forward to being back in northern Nunavut, her favorite place on the planet!
